Funeral services for Austin I. Ellyson, 84, longtime West Branch area farmer, were held at the West Branch United Methodist church Jan. 21 with the Rev. Max E. Paige officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Ellyson died at his home Jan. 17, following a sudden illness.

The son of Sewell and Emma Hill Ellyson, he was born near West Branch Dec. 31, 1889. He was married to Na Crozier Thomas Sept. 5, 1917. He farmed on the family farm north of West Branch most of his life.

He was a charter member of the Cedar County Farm Bureau and was a salesman for Farm Bureau insurance. He was a director of the Honeygrove School for 20 years, a past president of the West Branch Lions Club, and a member of the Cedar County Historical Society, the Hoover Heritage Foundation and the West Branch United Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife; 3 sons, Philip R., Hermosa Beach, Calif.; Iral T. and Ronald M., both of West Branch; 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
