Funeral services for Mrs. Miriam K. Klahn, 79, were held at the Stanwood Presbyterian church Jan. 20 with the Rev. John McFarland officiating. Burial was in the Lisbon cemetery. Pallbearers were Alfred Meyer, Dillon Jones, Don and Ray Ropa, Henry Ormsby and William Hansen. Mrs. John Swift was vocalist accompanied by Mrs. Edwin Davidson.

Mrs. Klahn died Jan. 17 at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids.

The daughter of John and Annabel Wetherell, she was born at Lisbon Jan.8, 1895. After graduation from Lisbon high school she attended Cornell college, Mt. Vernon and taught in the Lisbon and Stanwood schools.

She was married to Harry R. Klahn in Cedar Rapids June 10, 1921. They lived in Lisbon for a shorty time before moving to Stanwood where Mr. Klahn was a signal maintainer for the NorthWestern railroad for more than 40 years prior to his retirement in 1959.

Mrs. Klahn was active in Stanwood community affairs. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, the West Branch chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Legion auxiliary, Juanita Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Cedar County Historical society.

She served as librarian at Stanwood and was the correspondent for the North Cedar Press and the Tipton Conservative for many years.

Mrs. Klahn is survived by 2 sons, Dr. James E. Klahn, Ellensberg, Wash., and Dr. Richard P, Klahn, Springfield, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary L. Geyer, Overland Park, Kans. and 4 grandchildren, John and Martha Geyer and Sarah and Joel Klahn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her sister, Mildred Wetherell Speight and an infant daughter, Katherine.
