Last rites for Russell Moffett (Russ) Willer, 80, were held at First Methodist church, Tipton, Jan. 13 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were David and Kevin Dolan and Michael, Bruce, Craig and Stanley Willer. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. C. H. Banks, Richard Ferguson, Walter Graham, Kermit Pfeifle, Henry Walters, E. J. Wilson, Edward Kemp and G. H. Mosher.

Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mrs. Richard Ferguson, Mrs. E. J. Wilson, Mrs. DeVonne McKinney and Mrs. Kermit Pfeifle were in charge of flowers.

A Masonic service was conducted at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Jan.1 2. The folding and presentation of the flag at the gravesite was by the Tipton American Legion post.

Mr. Willer died at his home in Tipton, following a heart attack. He had spent several weeks with his children and had brought a grandchild to the University of Iowa at Iowa City and had apparently just returned home when he died.

The son of Wendell and Sarah Moffett Willer, he was born near Tipton Sept. 6, 1893. He graduated from Tipton high school in 1912 and attended Iowa State University for 2 years. He was a charter member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Iowa State.

He served in the army in World War I and was a sergeant in Co. G, 109th Ammunition Train. He was a member of the American Legion and World War I Veterans.

He was married to Dorothy Deardorff at Tipton Jan. 5, 1921. They farmed near Tipton until they retired. He served as a member of the Tipton school board from 1933 to 1938. He was a Cedar county supervisor from Jan. 2, 1957 through 1969 and served as a member of the Cedar county fair board. He was a member of the Tipton Rotary club.

Mr. Willer also served on the Cedar county board of education in 1955 and 1956, resigning when he was elected to board of supervisors.

He was a member of the Methodist church and served on the official board of the church. He was a member of the Tipton Masonic lodge and Kaaba Shrine, Davenport.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Phyllis) Dolan, LaGrange, Ill., and 2 sons, W. D. (Bud), Decorah and Jack, LaGrange, Ill., and 9 grandchildren.

Mr. Willer was preceded in death by his wife and 2 brothers.
