Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ann (Mae) Phelps, 93, were held at the Dye funeral home Jan. 5 with Dr. Glenn R. Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Springdale cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edwin, John and Leonard Phelps, Richard Anderson, Don Tague and Harlan Pace. Mrs. Kenneth Gould was organist. Dorothy Voss and Elsie Stiff were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Phelps died at Cedar Manor Jan. 3 where she had been living for a year.

The daughter of John Patrick and May Ann Dunn Leonard, she was born in Dallas county Aug. 3, 1880 and was educated in the Springdale area schools. She was married to Stuart Arthur Phelps at Wyoming Dec. 26, 1906. He preceded her in death in 1923.

A practical nurse, she spent most of her life in the Springdale-Tipton area. She had lived in Muscatine prior to moving to Tipton, living with her daughter, Mrs. Harold (Jean Stiff) Pace Sr. in Muscatine.

She was a member of the Rochester Methodist church, Juanita chapter of the Eastern Star at West Branch and the Self Culture club of Springdale.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Pace; a son, John William Phelps, Iowa City; 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 2 half sisters.
