Funeral services for Ambrose Mixell, 86, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Nov. 12 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery. Pallbearers were Wayne, Leonard, Alan and William Port and Terry Cook.

Mr. Mixell died at the Utopia nursing home Nov. 8 following an extended illness.

The son of William and Sarah Mixell, he was born in Pennsylvania June 5, 1887 and received his education there. He was married to Marie Curran in 1924.

A retired railroad maintenance man, he had lived in Tipton for 14 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. He served in the national guard as a private from 1910 to 1913.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Arla) Port, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Forrest (Jerry) Cook, Davenport; 2 brothers, Robert and Harry, both of Tipton, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, 4 brothers and a sister.
