Last rites for Mrs. Lars (Ferne) Larson, 64, a Tipton school bus driver for nearly 30 years, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Oct.8 with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne and Curtis Chapman, Clarence Kern, Don Whitlatch, Walter Eiler and Harold Wentzel. Irma Crawford was organist.

Mrs. Larson died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Oct 4. She suffered a heart attack at her home in Tipton Oct. 3.

Ferne Agnes, the daughter of Ernest and Zetta Whitmer Gay, was born at Belle Fourche, S.D. July 17, 1909. She was educated in the Tipton schools.

She was married to Lars Larson at Peoria, Ill. Oct. 10, 1933. A resident of Tipton for 60 years, she began driving a school bus during World War II and she had driven the route, north and east of Tipton with a second generation of riders.

She is survived by her husband and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
