Funeral services for E. C. (Deed) Sharpless, 77, a hide, fur and wool buyer in Tipton for a half century, will be held at the Sheets and Son funeral home at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 4, with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ford and Mr. and Wilmar Williams were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Max Phelps was organist.

Mr. Sharpless died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Oct. 1, following a short illness.

The son of Clarence and Ettie Meyer Sharpless, he was born at New Windsor, Ill., Dec. 19, 1895 and was educated in the Cedar county schools. He was married to Tessie May Niles at Muscatine Nov. 1, 1924.

A resident of Tipton for 50 years, he operated a fur, hide and wool buying business.

Mr. Sharpless is survived by his wife, a son, James Reeve; a step-daughter, Mrs. Cleo McGee, Rochester; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. James (Esther) Phelps, Tipton and Mrs. John (Bernice) Coder, Iowa City and 2 brothers, John and William, Rochester. He was preceded in death by a half-sister.
