Funeral services for William Gibson, 85, were held at West Branch Sept. 28 with the Rev. Max E. Paige officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery. Mr. Gibson died at a West Branch nursing home Sept. 24, following a long illness.

Mr. Gibson was born Nov. 6, 1887 in Johnson county, the son of Lewis E. and Agnes Murphy Gibson. He married Madeleine L. Rogers Dec. 25, 1909. She died in 1972. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Littrell Hatching and Feed company in Iowa City.

Surviving are 2 sons, Murray W., West Branch and Homer L., Moline, Ill.; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Maude Rogers, West Branch.

In addition to his wife, a brother preceded him in death.
