Funeral services for Fred Charles Franco, 87, retired farmer and mechanic, were held at the Dye funeral home Sept. 12 with Dr. Glenn R. Parrott officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Reeve, Dwight Dean, Don Maher, Theodore Albaugh, Reynold Mowry and Melvin Derynck. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Spear, Leslie Mowry, Forrest Fitch, Fred Roland and Wayne Miller. Ernest Riedesel was vocalist and Mrs. Riedesel organist.

Mr. Franco died at his home Sept. 9.

The son of Henry William and Emma Caroline Ingram Franco, he was born near Bennett Sept. 10, 1886. He was educated in the Olive Branch rural school and the Bennett public school.

He was married to Bessie May Kessler at Davenport May 24, 1909. He farmed in the Bennett area, then became an auto mechanic. He moved to Tipton in 1925. He attended the Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Frederick (Dorothy) Otis, Hastings, Nebr. and Mrs. Marvin (Katheryn) Little, Ballentine, S.C.; 2 grandchildren, Dr. C. Alan Riedesel, Akron, N.Y. and Mrs. Nancy Weadel, Lakewood, Colo.; 5 great-grandchildren, Christine, Mark, Matthew, Claudia and Craig Riedesel; a cousin and 5 nieces. He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and 3 brothers.
