Funeral services for Charles Nissen, 76, Durant, were held Sept. 5 with burial in the Durant cemetery. Mr. Nissen died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport Sept. 2 following a long illness.

He was born in Moline, Ill. He married Malinda Alpen in 1920 in Davenport. They farmed near Sunbury and Bennett until 1928, when they moved to Durant. He was a general contractor until he retired in 1970.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Hennings, Davenport; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Freda Petersen and Mrs. Jack Schultz, both of Davenport, and Mrs. Theresa Magdeleno, Calif.; and 3 brothers, William, Tipton; Henry, Lamont, Ill., and George, Davenport.
