Funeral services for Arthur Bachus, 77, a Cedar county supervisor for 24 years, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Aug. 27 with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery, Bennett.

Pallbearers, all members of the American Legion at Bennett were Earl Eggert, Harley Steinke, Norman Regennitter, Dwaine Ford, Everett Von Muenster and Robert O'Mara. Max Lauser was vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford organist. Mrs. Howard Stuhr and Mrs. Eugene Kleppe were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Bachus died at Mercy hospital Aug. 23. He had been in ill health for several years.

The son of Herman and Anna Wrage Bachus, he was born in Rock Island, Ill. April 10, 1896. He attended the rural schools of Cedar county and Browns Business college. He was married to Selma M. Juchter at Davenport June 23, 1921.

He farmed in the Bennett area, moving to Bennett 21 years ago.

He was first elected as a Cedar county supervisor in November, 1941, taking office Jan. 1, 1942. He served for 24 years, leaving office Dec. 31, 1966.

He served in World War I with the rank of corporal with Detachment No. 1, Camp Pike OARD. He was a member of the Rixe-Lausen post of the American Legion in Bennett and the Modern Woodmen of America.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Arno (Janice) Meinke, New Liberty; a son, Delmar, Bennett; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Edgar (Ella) Buck, Davenport and 4 brothers, Erwin and Harry, both of Bennett; Edward, Wheatland and Raymond, Tipton. He was preceded in death by a brother.
