Last rites for Mrs. Christina Benson, 88, were held at Bethany Lutheran church, West Branch, Aug. 26 with burial in the West Branch cemetery. Mrs. Benson died at Muscatine General hospital Aug. 23 following a sudden illness.

The daughter of Kirsten and Ole Pierhson, she was born in Denmark June 7, 1886 and came to the United States in 1906, settling in Racine, Wis., where she married Walter Benson June 12, 1909.

The couple went to Ucross, Wyo., in 1913, as homesteaders. They came to West Branch in 1926 and farmed in the area until their retirement. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran church.

Surviving are 2 sons, James Alling, Iowa City, and Corliss Leroy, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (E. Jeanette) Cross, Iowa City; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death.
