Funeral services for Mrs. Lois R. Martin, 84, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Aug. 1 with the Rev. Ernest H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in Hawker cemetery, Muscatine.
Pallbearers were Ronald Schmitt, Jerold McCoy, Thomas Beatty, Walter E. Mike and WIlliam Martin. Terri Thompson was vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford organist.
Mrs. Martin died at Mercy hospital July 29, following a short illness.
The daughter of William and Lillian Belk Darting, she was born at Brazil, Ind., June 12, 1889 and was educated in the rural Muscatine county schools. She was married to Joseph S. Martin at Muscatine Oct. 28, 1908. She was a member of the Sweetland Methodist church.
She had lived in Cedar county since 1950 and Tipton since 1954.
She is survived by her husband, 7 daughters, Mrs. Olive Gaul, Tipton; Mrs. Ruby Schmitt, Davenport; Mrs. Hubert (Mary) Hagens, Muscatine, Mrs. Albert (Lucille) Mieresonne, Wilmette, Ill.; Mrs. Wayne (Josephine) Rastenbach, Davenport; Mrs. Donald (Dayle) Martin, North Liberty and Mrs. Walter (Ann) Jean, Buena Park, Calif.; 3 sons, Walter E, Tipton; Harry L., Eldridge and William D., Pittsburgh, Pa.; 39 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mrs. Inez Small, Wilton and Mrs. Mazo Hesford, Muscatine.
