Funeral services for Edward Amil Henkel, 70, Mechanicsville, were held at 2 p.m. June 23 at the United Methodist church in Mechanicsville with burial in Rose Hill cemetery. The Rev. Aldreth Weigel officiated at the service and pallbearers were Glen Meincke, Al Bemer, Joe E. Paidar, Walter Kiehl, Cletus Pottebaum and Phillip Ward.

Mr. Henkel died June 21 at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids. He was born Nov. 16, 1902 at Vinton to Eric and Margaret (Behrens) Henkel. He was educated in the Vinton schools and married Leone G. Studer July 23, 1929 in Rock Island, Ill. He was a lineman for the Mechanicsville Telephone Co. about 30 years and was a member of the Methodist men's organization and the Methodist Church where he was a trustee at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Leon, Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Everett (Eddice Jean) Nimz. Fairmont, Minn.; five grandchildren, Alan, Lori and Susan Henkel and Robin and Michele Nimz,; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Strellner, Van Horne; three brothers, Rudy, Ted and Lawrence, Vinton and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Mammie Henkel, Ventura, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
