Funeral services for Frederick (Rick) Norman Peeks, 23, Wilton, were held at the Zion Lutheran church, Wilton, June 6, with the Rev. Garth Baker officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.

Peeks drowned at Lake MacBride Sunday afternoon.

Gary Hughes, Johnson county sheriff, said Peeks drowned when he fell out of a small sail boat about 4:30 p.m. Sunday near the north shore of Lake MacBride. The body was recovered about 7:45 p.m.

Authorities said Peeks was sailing on the lake with a woman companion when he apparently fell out of the craft. Two boats from the Solon fire department conducted dragging operations. The drowning was the first on Lake MacBride since 1967.

A life resident of Wilton, Peeks was born Sept. 2, 1949, in Iowa, the son of Norman F. and Maurine Wacker Peeks. He was a student at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville and was a member of the Tri-County Playcasters.

Surviving are his parents; and 4 sisters, Mrs. George (Melanie) Stamos, Johnston, Pa.; Mrs. Melvin (Pamela) Lucas, Salem, Ore., and Sandra and Susan, both at home.
