Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Cleta Johnston, 78, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home May 30 with the Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Max Phelps, Forrest Woode, Cecil Mathias, Lee Timmerman, Wilbur and Harold Woode. Mrs. Max Phelps was organist. Mrs. William Lenihan was in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Johnston died at Cedar Manor May 27 following a long illness.

The daughter of John and Caroline King Woode, she was born at Sumner, Ohio Nov. 17, 1894 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county.

She was married to Forest Hipple at Tipotn Nov. 9, 1910. Later she was married to Lloyd Johnston at Nashua Oct. 5, 1931.

A resident of Tipton for 30 years she was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian church and a 25 year member of the Moose lodge.

She is survived by 2 children, Mrs. Everett (Dorothy) Cone, Tipton and John V. Hipple, Mechanicsville; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Laucamp, Tipton, a grandson and 3 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers, a granddaughter and a niece.
