Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Pirkl, 87, were held at West Branch May 23, with the Rev. Max E. Paige officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Pirkl died at a Tipton Nursing home May 21, following an extended illness.

Mrs. Pirkl was born March 17, 1886, near Cedar Bluffs, the daughter of John and Mary Schnederger Jedlik.

She married William A. Pirkl, of Cedar Bluffs, April 15, 1913.

The couple farmed near West Branch later moving to Cedar Bluffs in 1932.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ross (Leona) Sayles, West Branch; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Pauline) Sinclair, San Jose, Calif.; a grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

Her husband died in February.
