Last rites for Edward Albert Wells, 72, were held in Durant May 10 with burial in the Durant cemetery. Mr. Wells died at his home in Durant May 7 following a short illness.

The son of Fred and Emily Wells, he was born June 24, 1900 at Sheffield, Ill. He had lived in the Durant community for 39 years.

Edward Wells married Viola Brandt on Jan. 3, 1918 at Hazelton, Iowa. He had farmed in the Durant community until 1943. He was later employed as a carpenter having retired in 1962.

Survivors include 3 sons, Harold Wells, Moscow, Willard Wells, Durant and Freddie Wells, New Liberty; 3 daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Eulalia) Noduft, The Dells, Ore.; Mrs. Leo (Lavonn) Meincke, Walcott and Mrs. Don (Velma) Reedy of Dixon; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Wells, Lamont; 4 sisters, Mrs. Paul (Zora) Hanabuth, Elmhurst, Ill., Mrs. Robert (Zona) Wilson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Minnie Senner, Independence and Mrs. Maude Heidht, Long View, Wash.

He was preceeded in death by 3 brothers and a sister.
