Last rites for Lawrence Schlichting, 67, were held at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Bennett May 9 with the Rev. Wendel Henkenmeier officiating. Burial was in the New Liberty cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Becker, Harley Steinke, Elmer McGuillen, Phillip Hambright, Wilbur Eggert and Larry Meyer. Perry Schroeder was organist.

Mr. Schlichting died at Mercy hospital, Davenport May 6 following a short illness.

The son of John H. and Matilda Misfeldt Schlichting, he was born at New Liberty April 16, 1906 and graduated from the Durant schools in 1923.

A Mobil tank wagon operator, he had been a resident of Bennett since 1951.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, president of the New Liberty Cemetery association and a member of the Cedar County Fireman's association.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ella Cubbage, Bennett; an uncle, Herman Misfeldt, Davenport, a niece, Mrs. R. L. (Marvella) Glidden and a grandniece, Pamela Glidden, Tulsa, Okla. He was preceded in death by a brother.
