Funeral services for Pyrcell (Percy) L. Whalen, 72, were held at the Dye Funeral home April 7 with the Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial was at the Mt. Zion cemetery, Monroe City, Ind.

Mr. Whalen died at his home in Tipton following a heart attack about 4:30 p.m. April 4. The Tipton fire department was called to the Whalen home after he collapsed to the west of the house. Dale Sterner, a neighbor, gave immediate resuscitation, which was followed by the use of oxygen.

The son of Francis Levi and Dora Johnson Whalen, he was born at Monroe City, Ind., Feb. 8, 1901. He was married to Tima Kinsinger, who died in 1958. A retired construction worker, he had lived in Tipton for 30 years. He was a member of the Moose lodge.

He is survived by a son, Alfred; a granddaughter; 4 sisters, Vesta Perry, Mineral City, Ill.; Mrs. Carl (Luella) Donovan, Vincennes, Ind.; Mrs. Fred (Glendora) Whisler, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Mrs. Harold (Marjorie) Plumber; 4 brothers, Marlin, Indianapolis, Ind.; Vance, Wheatland, Ind.; Charles, Tampa, Fla.; and Herbert, Washington, Ind. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bronnell.
