March 22, 1973 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Mae Maurer, 84, will be held at the United Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m. today (March 22). Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Maurer, the widow of Herbert F. Maurer, died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, March 19.

She is survived by 2 sons, Gale and Stanley, Tipton; 4 daughters, Mrs. William (Lucille) Horr and Shirley Maurer, Tipton; Mrs. Maureen Salisbury, Torrance, Calif., and Mrs. Margery Fraseur, Spencer and 4 sisters, Mrs. Herman Onken and Mrs. Lucy Walton, Tipton; Mrs. Florence Thompson, Milton, Mass., and Mrs. Mildred Gates, Marina Del Ray, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Mae Maurer, 84, were held at First United Church of Christ March 22 with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Arnold Swan was organist.

Pallbearers were Rick and James Fraseur, Donald Young, Larry Horr, Rich Behrens and Steve Maurer, grandsons. Mrs. James Reeve and Mrs. George Straub were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Maurer died at St. Luke's hospital March 19.

The daughter of Jacob and Minnie Willer Pfarr, she was born in Tipton July 4, 1888. She was educated in the schools of Cedar county.

She was married to Herbert Maurer in Tipton Feb. 19, 1913 and spent her entire life in Tipton. She was a member of United Church of Christ.

She is survived by 2 sons, Gale and Stanley, Tipton; 4 daughters, Mrs. William (Lucille) Horr and Shirley Maurer, Tipton; Mrs. Marueen Salisbury, Torrance, Calif. and Mrs. Margery Fraseur, Spencer and 4 sisters, Mrs. Herman Onken and Mrs. Lucy Walton, Tipton; Mrs. Florence Thompson, Milton; Mass., and Mrs. Mildred Gates, Marina Del Ray, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband.
