Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Harbit, 85, were held at St. Bernadette's Catholic church in West Branch March 21 with burial in Oakridge cemetery at West Liberty.

Mrs. Harbit died at an Iowa City nursing home March 19 after an extended illness.

The daughter of John and Martha Hayden Hughes, she was born at Paris, Mo., Aug. 26, 1887. She was married to William Harbit near Paris, Mo., March 27, 1910.

The family lived in Nebraska briefly and then farmed in the West Branch area more than 61 years.

Mrs. Harbit was a member of St. Bernadette's church.

Surviving are 5 daughters, Mrs. Wilfred (Gertrude) Feldman, West Liberty; Mrs. Vernon (Pearl) Cole, Iowa City; Mrs. Edwin (Anna) Lukavsky, Washington; Mrs. Fred (Maude) Waters, West Branch, and Mrs. Paul (Alice) Schneider, Iowa City; 2 sons, Daniel, Iowa City, and John, Cedar Rapids; 37 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren and a brother and 3 sisters.
