Funeral services for Mrs. Lu Lu Luetta Petersen, 96, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Jan. 5 with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Kautz Jr., Stephen Kautz, Gary Roller, Garry Worrell, Kenneth Maher and Gary Jepsen.

Mrs. Petersen died at New Liberty Jan. 2 following an extended illness.

The daughter of Cyphus H. and Martha E. Blackman Barteltt, she was born at New Liberty Nov. 21, 1876 and was educated in the rural schools of Cedar county.

She was married to Allen W. Spence at Lathrop, Mo., in 1894 and, following his death in 1939, she wed August Petersen in West Branch in 1944.

Mrs. Petersen spent her life in Cedar county with the exception of 13 years in Minnesota. She was a member of First United Church of Christ. She had lived at Cedar Manor for 6 years.

She is survived by 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Wright, West Branch and Mrs. George (Minnie) Worrell, Solon; 2 step-sons, Victor Petersen, West Branch and Henry Petersen, Iowa City and several grandchildren including Mrs. Raney (Marjorie) Roller, Davenport and Allen Kautz, Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter, Eva Spence Kautz, and a grandson.
