Funeral services for Louie Hansen, 82, were held at the Bethany Lutheran church in West Branch Aug. 31.

The Rev. Marvin Enan and Rev. Leon Knitt officiated at the services. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Hansen died at a Muscatine hospital Aug. 29 following a long illness.

Born Sept. 24, 1888 in Denmark, Mr. Hansen came to the United States in 1907. He married Mae Madsen, July 18, 1918 at Mason City.

Mr. Hansen was a veteran of World War I and a 50-year member of Chauncey Butler American Legion at West Branch. He had farmed in the West Branch area until his retirement in 1954.

Survivors are a son, Chesley, Iowa City and a daughter, Mrs. Mareda Ewalt, Storm Lake, and 6 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son and several brothers and sisters.
