Funeral services for Dr. Alferd Stephenson, 77, were held Feb. 27 at the Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, with Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Burial was in the Diamond cemetery.

Dr. Stephenson died at Knoxville after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun county and lived in the Bennett area 25 years. A veterinarian, he was a life member of the Iowa Veterinary Ass'n.

He married Ethyl Cruise Oct. 1, 1921 at Waterloo. She preceded him in death.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Barnett, Columbia, Mo.; 2 sons, Joe, Cedar Rapids, and Don, Clarence; 8 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
