Final rites for Thomas Wilson Garton, 81, were held at Chapman's Funeral home Feb. 3, with the Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Pallbearers were Darrell Worby, Glenn Farrington, Herb Crock, Mearl Eiler, Russell Rhoads and William Jensen. Mrs. Harlan Voelker and Mrs. Fred Luedemann were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Edward Speer was organist and John Swift vocalist.

Mr. Garton died at his home in Stanwood Jan. 31.

The son of Thomas P. and Delilah Hart Garton, he was born at Paradise, W. Va. April 4, 1888 and had lived in Stanwood community for 50 years. He was a farmer until he retired. He was a veteran of World War I.

He was married to Nellie Smith at Liberty, W. Va. April 6, 1918.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Darrell, Stanwood; a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Carol) Vacek, Oxford Junction; 4 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by a sister and 4 brothers.
