Funeral services for James LeRoy Steen, 57, Bettendorf, formerly of Cedar county, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Jan. 29) at the Runge chapel in Davenport. Burial will be in the Davenport Memorial park cemetery.
Mr. Steen died at Pine Knoll Home near Davenport Jan. 27, following a 7-month illness. He was born in Worthington, Mo., April 5, 1912. He married O Kylee M. Collins April 5, 1935, at Centerville. He had farmed in the Bennett and New Liberty areas until moving to Tipton, where they lived for 9 years.
They moved to Bettendorf 2 years ago, where he was employed by the W.J. Marolf & Sons Construction company for 3 years. He was a member of the laborer's union #309.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Warren (Barbara) Spickermann, Bennett; 2 sons, Donald L. and Douglas L., both of Wheatland; 4 sisters, Mrs. George Cross, Davenport; Mrs. Richard Campion, West Branch; Mrs. Clive Ashby and Mrs. Fred Gardner, both of Kirksville, Mo.; and 4 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters and a grandson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer society.
