Final rites for William E. Spear, 61, a native of Stanwood, were held Oct. 29 at Cedar Rapids. Mr. Spear died at a Cedar Rapids nursing home Oct. 26.

He was born April 1, 1908, at Stanwood. He was married to Frieda Martensen on Sept. 13, 1939 at the Anamosa Methodist church. The Spears lived in Anamosa for 13 years before moving to Marion.

Mr. Spear was employed for 23 years at Wilson and Co., Inc., of Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the First United Methodist church in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors are his wife; 3 sons, Donald W., Davenport; Kenneth A., Lenexa, Kan. and James D. who is serving in the army in Vietnam; a daughter, Nancy Lynn, at home; and 2 grandchildren.
