Funeral services for Joseph Leonard Bromell, 68, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Oct. 11 with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Friday, Duane Sayre, Gene Sietz, David Henderson, Kenneth Simmermaker and Leslie Drumbarger. Mrs. Robert Friday and Mrs. Gene Seitz were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Mr. Bromell died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Oct. 8, following an extended illness.

The son of William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Busch Bromell, he was born at Clarence, Jan. 19, 1901 and attended the Tipton schools. He was married to Rosemary Friday at Chelsea July 2, 1923.

A lifelong resident of the Tipton area, he retired from farming in 1958. He was baptized a Presbyterian.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Leonard, Stanwood and Joseph Jr., Tipton; 7 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Louis (Hattie) Ohrt, Waterloo and Mrs. Nate (Francis) Sayre, Tipton.

He was preceded in death by a brother and 4 sisters.
