September 18, 1969 - The Tipton Conservative

Last rites for Mrs. Helen E. Frederick, 68, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Sept. 15 with the Rev. Loyd G. Osborn officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. The Tipton Helping Hand Rebekah lodge conducted services at the funeral home following funeral services.

Pallbearers were Arnold Swan, Doulgas Emrich, George Thordsen, Claire Gardner, William Dinse and Glen Stout. Mrs. George Thordsen and Mrs. Claire Gardner were in charge of flowers. George Thordsen was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swan, organist.

Mrs. Frederick died at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, Sept. 12, following a short illness.

The daughter of Harry and Agnes Stayner Sherwood, she was born July 7, 1901 at Tipton and was graduated from the Tipton high school in 1919. She was married to Gilbert E. Frederick at Cedar Rapids Sept. 15, 1930. Mrs. Frederick had been a beautician in Tipton for 40 years.

She was a member for 50 years and Post Noble Grand of the Rebekah lodge, a member and Past Regent of the women of the Moose, a member of the Tipton and Cedar County American Legion Auxiliary and she was a member of the Four Square Gospel church.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ross (Gen Eva) Frederick, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; a sister, Eva Sherwood, Seattle, Wash.; 2 nieces, Mrs. E. R. (Dorothy) McCafferty, Naches, Wash. and Mrs. William (Gloria) Newland, Tipton, and a nephew, Art Hain, Anaheim, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.
