Last rites for Ernst F. Petersen, 91, retired Sunbury postmaster and businessman, will be at 1 p.m. today (June 12) at the Frick Funeral home in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Petersen died at his home in Sunbury June 9.

He was born in Cedar County. He married Martha Schneckloth at Davenport in 1906. They operated Petersen's grocery store in Sunbury for 20 years.

Mr. Petersen was treasurer of Sunbury School District for 20 years, and was postmaster for 30 years, retiring in 1948.

Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife; a son, Vernon, Sunbury; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alma Lage and Mrs. Mary Gruemmer, both of Davenport, 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
