Final rites of O. H. Mathias, 77, were held at the Sheets and Sons funeral home in Tipton, at 2 p.m. May 20 with burial in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Mathias, a retired farmer, died unexpectedly in his home in Tipton May 17.

The Rev. Eugene Miller will be in charge of the services. Harold and Alfred Cary, John Hipple, Leo Nebergall, John Lynch and Ralph Zousel will be pallbearers. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Dietz and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Scorpil will have charge of flowers. Mrs. Max Phelps is organist.

Opha Harry, son of Hiram Jeremiah and Adilaide Abbott Mathias was born in Sullivan, Ill. and was educated in the rural Moultrie county, Ill. schools. He was married to Vera Mae Kinnan at Davenport, Dec. 6, 1916.

He farmed in the Tipton area and near Lewistown, Mo. for 19 years, retiring in 1966 and moving back to Tipton.

He was a member of the Jonathan Creek Christian Church of Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Cecil, Mechanicsville; Mearl, Richland; 2 daughters, Mrs. Larry (Mary) Hull, Davenport and Mrs. Clarnece (Lorna) Paulsen, Coal City, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Mathias is also survived by 4 half brothers, John, Jerry, Charles and Claude Mathias, all of Muscatine and a half sister, Mrs. Walter Kettler, West Branch.

He was preceded in death by a brother and 2 sons.
