Funeral services for Harold J. Stelzer, 68, former resident of Mechanicsville, were held at Murdoch chapel in Marion, May 8. Services were conducted by the Rev. Lloyd C. Kellams. Organist, Mrs. Douglas Horner. Pallbearers were Leonard Mahmens, Wayne Mahmens, Ronald Mahmens, William Simon, Joe Schaefer and Dale Eickert. Interment Cedar Memorial Park. Masonic services conducted by Springville Lodge 139, AF & AM.

Harold J. Stelzer, the son of August and Augusta Yanke Stelzer, was born Jan. 11, 1901 at Mechanicsville. Aug. 2, 1924 he was married to Evarista Schwirtz at Anamosa. Mr. Stelzer lived on a farm near Springville until moving to Marion in 1953. He had been employed by the Anamosa Reformatory for 25 years, until his retirement in1968. He was a member of Springville Lodge No. 139 AF&AM.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Thomas H., Anamosa; 3 grandchildren, James, JoAnne and John Stelzer, Anamosa; a sister, Mrs. Eva Lehrman and a brother, Frank Stelzer, both of Stanwood. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred and 2 sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Zimmerman and Mrs. Rose Mahmens.
