Last rites for Herbert Rixe, 62, former Lowden resident, were held May 6 in the Lutheran church in Atkins. Burial was in the family lot in the Lowden cemetery. Mr. Rixe died May 3 at his home in Atkins, following a heart attack.

Herbert Rixe, son of the late Louis and Catherine Portewig Rixe, was born April 7, 1907, in Lowden and received his education in the Lowden schools. Following the death of his parents he left Lowden. For several years has lived in Atkins.

He was employed in Cedar Rapids for many years. He never married. He was a member of the Lutheran faith, Missouri synod.

Survivors are 4 sisters, Alma Rixe and Mrs. Lillian Travis, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Julius (Alice) Koch, Gernee, Ill., and Mrs. Arnold (Florence) Lorch, Arlington Heights, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
