October 17, 1968 - The Tipton Conservative

Final rites for Mrs. Wily A. Long, 82, Tipton wee held at the Sheets and Son Funeral Home Oct. 14. Burial was at the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Long died Oct. 10 at the Woode Nursing home, Tipton.

The services were conducted by the Rev. E. H. Lauer. Don Thompson was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swan organist. Pallbearers were 6 grandsons, Robert, John and George Zraick, Ronald and Jack Matthews and Dennis Long. Honorary pallbearers were Mason Long, Bruce Silver, William Watson and Dennis Ruggeburg.

The daughter of Frank Preston and Tillie Hines Carl, she was born at Tipton Dec. 29, 1885 and was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. She was married to Willy Allen Long at Larned, Kans. Feb. 19, 1907. She lived in Tipton all of her life.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, Virginia Grove Circle of King's Daughters and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mrs. Long is survived by 2 sons, Victor, Tipton and George Elwyn, Deerfield, Ill.; and 3 daughters, Mrs. J. J. Matthews, Mesa, Ariz.; Lucille Watson, San Francisco, Calif. and Mrs. Raymond Silver, Tipton; a sister, Hazel Horrocks, Springfield, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
