10 October 1968 - The Tipton Conservative

Final rites for William Emerson Palmer, 68, were held Oct. 4 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dick Fields, Carl Frederick, Don Armstrong, DeWaye Ailey, Russell Willer and Robert Walters. Mrs. Robert Walters, Mrs. Ursula Bolton and Mrs. B. C. Bunker were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Masonic services were conducted by Cedar Lodge No. 11, AF & AM Oct. 3.

Mr. Palmer died unexpectedly at Columbus, Ohio, where he and Mrs. Palmer had gone to attend the funeral of Mrs. Palmer's sister.

The son of David and Anna Fankhauser Palmer, he was born at Tipton Oct. 9, 1899 and was educated in the Tipton schools. He was married to Ursula May Aug. 23, 1920 at Davenport.

He worked for the Milwaukee Transportation company and farmed in the Tipton area. The Palmers had lived in Tipton for 22 years. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.

He served on the Tipton City council from 1951 to 1953.

He is survived by his wife, Ursula (Sue), a son, Richard, Tipton; a brother, Glenn, Tipton; a sister Adeline Hope Palmer, Chicago, Ill. and 5 grandchildren.
