Last rites for the Rev. William George Nagler, 84, were held at St. Paul Lutheran church, Stanwood, with burial in the Stanwood cemetery. The Rev. W. D. Oetting, pastor emeritus, Waterloo, delivered the sermon and the Rev. R. M. Muhl served as liturgist.

The Rev. Nagler died April 9 at Jackson, Mich.

Services were held at Trinity Lutheran church, Jackson, Mich. April 10.

The son of Valentine and Amanda Nagler, he was born Feb. 15, 1884 at Salz Meininger, Thueringen, Germany and received his early education in Germany. He came to the United States at 20 and entered Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill. to study for the ministry.

His year of vicarage was spent at Shawano, Wis., serving the congregation as pastor and teacher. He also served the Indians on a nearby reservation.

Upon graduation from the seminary in 1908, he accepted a call to the Stanwood church and he served St. Paul's Lutheran church until February, 1939. He went from Stanwood to Sumner where he was pastor until he retired after 50 years of service.

He was married to Anna Lehrman Nov. 3, 1909.

Following his retirement, the Rev. Nagler moved to Jackson, Mich.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, a daughter, Ruth, Jackson, Mich.; a son, Pastor Richard Nagler, Council Bluffs; 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margarete Nagler, and nieces and nephews.
