Funeral services for Elmer H. Stout, 80, were held April 2 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery at Cedar Bluff. Laura Geller was organist.

Pallbearers were Don Armstrong Sr., George Mueller, J. S. Luikart, Leonard Port, Clarence Kern and Merle Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Swan were in charge of flowers. Military services were held at the graveside.

Mr. Stout died March 31 at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The son of James and Mary C. Frederick Stout, he was born near Tipton Sept. 15, 1887. He attended rural schools and was graduated from Tipton high school in 1907.

He served in the army during World War I, holding the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion in Tipton.

Mr. Stout was married to Alta (Barney) Howard in Cedar Rapids Feb. 23, 1928.

A retired section foreman for the Rock Island railroad, he moved to Tipton from Luverne, Minn. 15 years ago.

Mr. Stout is survived by his wife, a sister, Mrs. Nellie Hill, Cedar Bluff; a son, Robert Howard, Charles City; 2 daughters, Mrs. Carl (Marguerite) Kruse, Marion and Mrs. Don (Lois) Bahmler, Tipton; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters.
