Final rites for Ora M. Mayes, 81, retired farmer, were held April 2 at the Dye Funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Pallbearers were Max Crawford, Ernest Werling, Merlin Daugherty, Otis Geadelmann, Don Welty and Richard Moon. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Walters, William Schneekloth, C. H. Banks, D. A. Donohue, Glen Agne and Russell Willer.

Masonic rites were held at the grave.

Mr. Mayes died March 30 at St. Lukes hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness.

The son of Henry and Minnie Witmer Mayes, he was born near Tipton Dec. 18, 1886 and graduated from Tipton high school. He was married to Bess C. Peet June 17, 1916. He farmed in the Tipton area for many years.

He was a 50-year member of Cedar Lodge No. 11 AF&AM and a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian church.

He is survived by his wife, a sister, Mrs. Bertha Kavanaugh, Tucson, Ariz. and a niece and a nephew.
