ATALISSA - Thomas E. Crees, 74, of Cedar County died unexpectedly at his farm home Monday.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Rochester Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Lusher officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in the West Branch Cemetery. Friends may call at the Snider Funeral Home at West Liberty Wednesday evening. A memorial fund has been established at the church.

Mr. Crees was born on the family farm on Oct. 22, 1893, the son of Isaac and Kate Spencer Crees. In 1919 he married Emma Hacker.

He was a member of the Rochester Methodist Church, a former master and 50-year member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge at Rochester, a member of the White Shrine, Bethlehem Shrine and was a former past worthy patron of Juanta Chapter of the Eastern Star. For several years in the 1940's he was a Cedar County supervisor and a member of the ASC committee. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion.

His survivors include his widow; two daughters, Henrietta Krogle of Mason City and Mrs. Bonita Peterson of Chatsworth, Calif.; two sons, Everett of Atalissa and Wyatt of Marshalltown; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Vogel of Davenport; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services for Thomas E. Crees, 84, were held Jan. 18 at the Rochester Methodist church with the Rev. James Lusher officiating. Burial was at the West Branch cemetery where Masonic rites were held.

Mr. Crees died Jan. 15 at his home near Atalissa following a heart attack.

He was born Oct. 22, 1893 in the family home north of Atalissa, the son of Isaac and Kate Spencer Crees.

He married Emma Hacker in 1919. Crees spent his entire life as a farmer.

Crees was a member of the Rochester Methodist church, a 50 year member and past master of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge at Rochester, a member of the White Shrine No. 8, Bethlehem Shrine and a past patron of the Juanita Chapter O.E.S. of West Branch.

Crees was first elected supervisor in November, 1950 and served during 1941, 1942 and 1943. A Democrat, he became supervisor again when LaMar Foster resigned in January, 1948 and served until the election that year, when H. J. Hemmingway, West Branch, was elected. Crees was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the ASCS from 1953 to 1965.

Surviving are his widow, Emma; 2 sons, Everett, Atalissa and Wyant, Marshalltown; 2 daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Krogh, Mason City and Mrs. Bonita Petersen, Chatsworth, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Vogel, Davenport and 5 grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established at the Rochester church.
