Last rites for Joseph M. Billick, 70, were held Nov. 27 at the First Methodist church, West Branch, with the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Billick died suddenly Nov. 23 at the Iowa City Extended Care center following a heart attack.

He was born in Conesville Dec. 18, 1896, the son of Freed and Elizabeth Whitman Billick. He resided in West Branch since early childhood. He was raised by an aunt, Mrs. F. L. Lutz, of Lone Tree, following the death of his parents.

Nov. 26, 1919 he married Edna Hawthron in Iowa City. He was a member, trustee and official board member of the First Methodist church of West Branch. He was a prominent Cedar county farmer.

Survivors include: his wife; 2 sons, Marion, Stanwood and Charles, Iowa City; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Florence) Hayslett, West Liberty and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, 2 brothers and a grandchild.
