19 October 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for George Yerington, 79, West Branch, were held Oct. 16 at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Burial was in the Pee Dee cemetery east of Springdale.

Mr. Yerington died Oct. 13 at Crestview nursing home at West Branch where he had lived for several years.

He was born Oct. 22, 1888 in Cedar county, the son of the late Daniel W. and Nina Osborn Yerington. He was a life-long resident of Cedar county.

Yerington married Hazel Duncan on May 13, 1908 at Tipton. He was a member of the Springdale Methodist church and a retired farmer.

Surviving are: his wife, Hazel; 3 sons, Robert A., West Liberty, Marvin, Iowa City and Dan, West Branch; 3 daughters, Mrs. Carroll (Margaret) Fankhauser, West Liberty, Mrs. Henry (Betty) Britcher, Wilton Junction and Mrs. Ruth Livezey, West Branch; 2 brothers, Charles, Muscatine and Archie, Rochester; 4 sisters, Mrs. Ted Morton, Iowa City, Mrs. Lloyd White, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Nira Sterner, Wilton Junction and Mrs. Sadie Burroughs, Muscatine; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 4 children, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
