Last rites for William H. Harness, 74, former Clarence councilman, were held Sept. 18 at the Chapman funeral home with the Rev. James Lusher officiating. Mr. Harness died Sept. 16.

The son of George and Nancy Harness, he was born May 31, 1893 at Defiance. He attended schools in Shelby county and San Diego, Calif. He was married to Mabel Cleveland at Ivanhoe, Minn. April 26, 1916.

He is survived by his wife, Mable; a son, Ronald W., Grandview, Mo., a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Elijah, Stanwood; 3 grandsons and a great-grandson, a brother, John, Mechanicsville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hulsebus, Worthington, Minn. and Mrs. Diane Wright, Beverly Hills, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a brother and 5 sisters.
