September 21, 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Mrs. Herbert (Edith) Richards, 68, died in her home Sept. 15 after a brief illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist with Mrs. Charles Yerington, vocalist. Mr. and Mrs. John Adams and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pursley were in charge of flowers.

Pallbearers were John Lynch, William Hobstetter, Walter Kier, Frank Sturdy, Dave Cline and Elry Rehbehn.

Mrs. Richard was born March 10, 1899 at Cedar Valley, the daughter of John and Emmaline Sheffer Gladfelter. She was educated in the rural Cedar county schools and attended Cornell college.

She was married Dec. 26, 1921 at Tipton to Herbert Richards. They were the parents of 3 daughters. Mrs. Richards was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Past Presidents of the Auxiliary, Tipton Chapter O.E.S. and the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist church of which she was a member.

A life resident of Tipton, Mrs. Richards is survived by her husband; daughters, Mrs. Donald Challis, Stanwood, Mrs. Everett Von Muenster, New Liberty and Mrs. Wallace Mueller, Iowa City; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Cora Mayer, Mount View, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
