Funeral services for Frederick Kortum, 82, were held Monday in the Sheets & Son chapel with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Darrell, Donald, Neal and Gail Dauber, Carl Kortum and Steven Streets. George Thordsen was vocalist. Gertrude Kruse and Mrs. Lydia Johnston were in charge of flowers.

Frederick William Kortum was born Sept. 11, 1884 near New Liberty, the son of Adolph and Emma Rienbeck Kortum. He was educated in rural Scott county schools. He married Agnes Dorothy Schneider at Springdale March 14, 1911, and they farmed for many years. The Kortums were Tipton residents for the past 50 years. He died Aug. 17 at Cedar Manor nursing home after an extended illness.

Mr. Kortum was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 730 in Tipton.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Surviving are his wife Dorothy, of Tipton; a son, Raymond, Grand Junction, Colo.; 2 daughters, Mrs. LeRoy (Lucille) Gregory, Arvada, Colo. and Mrs. Norman (Selma) Dauber, Tipton; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Meata Kroeger, Seattle, Wash.
