17 August 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Harry Levi Gritton, 59, died unexpectedly at his home in West Branch Aug. 15 following a heart attack.

Services will be held Friday, Aug. 18, at 1:30 p.m. at Sheets and Son Funeral home. Interment will be in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Gritton is survived by his wife, Erma; a daughter, Beryl Joan Stafford and 2 grandsons, all of West Branch.

24 August 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Harry Gritton, 59, retired Tipton farmer, were held August 18 at the Sheets & Son chapel. The Rev. Eugene Miller officiated and burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Gaul, Max Nebergall, Chalmer Keller, Joe Bishop, Ed Parsons and Arnold Swan. George Thordsen was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Swan.

Harry Levi Gritton was born in Tipton July 12, 1908 to Levi Norman and Etta Ford Gritton. He was educated in rural Cedar county schools. He was married Feb. 15, 1934 to Erma Irene Anderson at Mt. Vernon, and farmed near Tipton until his retirement in 1961. He had been a resident of West Branch the past 5 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Joan) Stafford, and two grandsons, all of West Branch, 4 brothers, Walter, Vearl and Albert, all of Tipton, and Howard of Clarence; and 4 sisters, Mrs. Gladys Marolf, Iowa City, and Mrs. John (Vella) Dickinson, Mrs. Archibald (Ethel) Safley, and Mrs. Harlan (Alberta) Dugger, all of Tipton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
