27 July 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Final rites for Lyle Wendel Salyars, 64, were held July 26 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial was in Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Salyars died July 23 at University hospitals, Iowa City, following a lingering illness.

Pallbearers were Eugene Morrison, Lyle Barkalow, Wayne Ford, Delwin Miller, Ray Eserhaut and Milton House. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Stiff and Mrs. Ray Eserhaut were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

The son of Perry and Katherine Daughters Salyars, he was born in Glidden April 6, 1903. He was educated in the Kahoka, Mo. schools.

He was married to Louise M. Triplett at Lancaster, Mo. April 29, 1921. A baker, he had been living with his son, Billy, in Tipton for 2 years.

He is survived by his wife, 6 sons; Charles, Vinton; Lowell, Rochester; Billy, Tipton; Donald, DeWitt; Robert and Gary Allen, both of Wilton Junction; 3 daughters, Mrs. James (Mary Lou) Winant, Brandon, Fla.; Mrs. Keith (Betty Ann) Phelps, West Liberty and Mrs. William (Rosalea) Phelps, Wilton Junction; 31 grandchildren.

Two brothers, Burt, Burlington and Cleave, Peoria, Ill. and 2 sisters, Mrs. Harry (Helen) Hayes, Burlington and Mrs. George (Elen) Watts, Chicago.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
