OLIN - Clarence Shriver, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Shriver, Clarence, was killed in a hay baler accident on the John Reiken farm southeast of Olin on Monday afternoon.
He became entangled in the machine and reportedly choked to death. It was necessary to take the machinery apart before his body could be removed.
Youth was a World war II veteran, having served in Company F, 88th division.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Darrell and George, Clarence; a sister, Avis Shriver, Dayton, Ohio, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Shriver, Clarence and Mrs. Catherine Reed, Cedar Rapids.
Services were held this Thursday in the Clarence Methodist church, with military rites at the grave.
A week ago Kenneth Meier fractured his ankle while operating the same baler.
