Cletius F. Moore, 68, Wilton Junction was killed instantly March 15 when the van-type truck he was driving was struck by a semi-truck driven by Gerald E. Shaner, Wapakoneta, Ohio in Rock Island. Moore was driving a delivery truck for Hansen's Hardware, Inc. of Davenport. He died of severe head and chest injuries.

The larger truck, owned by the Craig Trucking of Albany, Ind., was reported to have struck the van almost head on. The impact slammed Moore's truck into a traffic light pole on the west side of the intersection. The rear of Moore's truck was wedged between the trailer and the tractor of Shaner's truck, police said.

Shaner, 30, was booked by Rock Island police on a charge of reckless homicide. He was arraigned in Circuit Magistrate's Court and released after posting the required 10 percent of a $5,000 bond. A preliminary court hearing has been set for March 31 by Magistrate John B. Cunningham.

Cletius Moore was born Jan. 10, 1899. He married Dorothy Esbaum on June 24, 1920. A former resident of Davenport, he had lived in Wilton Junction for 6 years and was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church at Wilton Junction.
