March 9, 1967 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Adams, 96, were held March 3 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Frank Loomis, Walter Weise, Fred Sanders, A. A. Petersen, Herman Osterkamp and M. L. Gesme. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mr. and Mrs. David Kingsbury were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Adams died at her home in Tipton Feb. 28, following a lingering illness.

The daughter of Dayton and Anna Van Pelt Sweet, she was born at Pipestone, Minn. Oct. 9, 1870. She was educated in the rural schools of the Pipestone area.

She was married to Frank Thomas Adams and they came to Tipton about 1885. Mrs. Adams had been a Tipton resident for 80 years.

She is survived by 4 sons, Fred, Cedar Rapids; Clyde, Pella and Clarence and Wilbur, Tipton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Edward Clampitt, Wyoming and Mrs. William Isabel Malkmus, Tipton; 37 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Mason (Lizzy) Sturk, Tipton and Mrs. Rachael Slate, Los Angeles, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, 2 daughters, a sister and a brother.
